The thing with CFS is that you loose your resilience. I would consider myself free of 98% of my CFS symptoms on a day-to-day basis but I find that when I have a busy time of it I struggle after a few days of “busy” or “new stuff”, the fatigue of chronic fatigue syndrome makes itself felt.
It is rather like a “normal” person is like a car performing well, you can go for miles without needing to stop and take a rest. With CFS, you are like a run-down old hulk of a car, fuel consumption through the roof and a slow leak from the tank. You have to stop and refuel more often after a shorter time.
It is that which I find so frustrating.
